WHAT IS A ONE DAY EVENT?

EVENTING is an equestrian event where the same horse and rider combination compete against other competitors across the three disciplines (known as phases) of dressage, cross-country, and show jumping.

This event has its roots in a comprehensive cavalry test that required mastery of several types of riding.  It is an opportunity to demonstrate and to “test” the training, strength and versitality of the horse and rider combination.

Eventing competitions may be run as a one-day event (ODE), where all three phases are completed in one day or as a three-day event (3DE), so that the phases are run over more days.
